Luxe Hand Harness Tutorial

I love hand harnesses but can never find one that fits perfectly (yes I have tiny hands!), so I decided to make my own. Gold hand harnesses are bride staples in Indian marriages  so I wanted to make something different and contemporary. Here's what I came up with!

Make it by following these simple steps.

Things you need :

  • Gold chain
  • Thin leather or suede cord
  • Jump rings
  • Lobster Clasps
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Wrap the chain around your wrist for size. It's important to make it tight or the whole thing won't set well on your hand.
To break the chain, just hold the link and twist hard and it will break off. No need for pliers or breaking scissors :D
Repeat for the distance between your wrist and ring finger. And then again around your finger for ring size.

Start threading the cord through the chain. It is easy but requires some patience. Mid way you'll start realizing why Chanel bags are so expensive.

Cut the cord and secure with glue. Don't forget to insert a jump ring on both sides before you glue it shut!

Attach a Lobster Clasp to one jump ring. This is how it should look. If the hand harness is too adventurous for you, stop here! It's still a pretty bracelet.

Repeat with the other 2 chains. Keep the middle one open from both sides. Secure the ring from one side. Keep the cord long on the right and then glue it to the first link to make a ring. Keep measuring before you glue anything.

Thread one cord from the middle chain into a link of the ring and secure. Attach the other side to the bracelet. And that's it! So easy, so luxe.

If you think the glue is not secure, use a needle and thread. The result is much neater.

Wear it with dark nail-paint! It's chunky enough to wear alone, but if you like stacking go all the way!

Look Of The Week : Freida Pinto in Burberry

I was going through my daily dose of celeb blogs when I chanced upon this image that blew me away.

That is our very own export, Ms. Freida Pinto at the Burberry Fall Presentation, 2013 in London. Jewel tones, colour blocking, peplum top, yellow pop colour bag, bright lips, oxblood nails and relaxed hair. All the top trends of the year in one beautiful, neat package.

She's wearing Burberry separates from top to toe.

What can I say.. Bandra girls have all the style ;)

GIRL ON FIRE by ALICIA KEYS

Today's song released a while ago but still continues to inspire. Never fails to give me that extra boost of confidence and the extra bounce in my step.

She's just a girl and she's on fire
Hotter than a fantasy, lonely like a highway
She's living in a world and it's on fire
Feeling like a catastrophe, but she knows she can fly away

The video is beautifully styled as well. Neon, baroque, high waist skirts, crop tops, jewel colours and an arm party! Ticks all my boxes.

To all the independent women.

On Trend : Multi Finger Rings

Got my first salary last week. Obviously the next logical step was to go shopping! I had quite a productive weekend (shopping wise). I don't usually buy a lot of accessories because in my head I think I can make them all. This time, however, I could not resist buying these gorgeous, funky, statement-y multi finger rings.

From Left : Mustache (Accesorize), Peace, Key (Both Hill Road, Bandra)

They look good on all kinds of hands (trust me, I have the hands of the 3 year old child) and are a sure fire conversation starter. They're available EVERYWHERE and come in all kinds of shapes and colours. Besides these 3, I spotted spikes, snakes, lips, random tribal art and even an elaborate cat.

Remember ladies, a heavy multi finger ring can be used as a knuckle duster for self defence! BAM!!!

I Literary Love This : The Style Diary Of A Bollywood Diva

Hello! Now I'm really addicted to blogging and just cannot seem to stop! So new post almost everyday! Yay!!! (I think I may just lose my job)

Today's a new Literary post ( Do you like the name?).

Kareena Kapoor Khan, with some help from Rochelle Pinto, has penned her first book.

She goes through her style journey as an actor, from the disastrous ones like Hulchul to some of my favorites including Poo in K3G and her size zero phenomena in Tashan. Here is a Sneak Preview ( Shhh!)

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham:
Red bustier top, shiny red pants and You are my Soniya. This was the look that started it all. Hrithik and I were back on screen as a romantic couple, which obviously made everybody sit up and take notice. My character, Pooja Sharma, better known as Poo, was this happy-go-lucky, clueless about- life but-very clued-into-fashion uber cool girl. Karan Johar and Manish had really gone over every single detail to make my clothes truly trendy. Each character had a specially designed wardrobe to match their personality. Poo, of course, was high-street meets-designer-wear! It was also the first time an actress was wearing expensive designer clothes from Dolce & Gabbana to Versace in a Hindi movie. My red outfit in the song was quite a fluke though. I remember the leather pants were a bit difficult to dance in, so Manish decided to cut the bottoms and make slits. And that became a huge rage and a fashion trend! My stomach was exposed in that song, which I was actually quite happy about because I had worked quite a bit to get into shape for that.

The entire film was very well-styled, but this particular look got such a huge reaction that even I was surprised. It easily became one of the most stylish and recognizable characters ever to feature on the big screen. I guess it also started the trend of red being my lucky colour on screen.

Tashan:
The size-zero phenomenon. That is how Tashan will always be remembered, thanks to the media frenzy over my new size. More than the looks in the movie, I think people were looking at my body with a magnifying glass and trying to figure out how a chubby Punjabi girl had morphed into a super-toned diva.
It was the green bikini scene that stole the show, though. Nobody thought they'd ever see a Kapoor girl in a two-piece on screen; neither did I for that matter. But I trusted Yash Raj and when Adi Chopra said I needed to wear a bikini, I didn't argue. I was always a confident girl, never too worried about how I looked, but this was new for me too. I couldn't wait to see the reactions, dying to know if all my hard work had paid off.
The film released, and my phone went mad. People were calling and messaging me non-stop for days. Everyone wanted to know one thing. 'Oh my God, how did you do it?' And now you know! That phase was one of the biggest highs of my life. I have to admit I love looking at the photos from that movie, just to see how toned and well-defined my body was.
Tashan wasn't about a statement wardrobe, it was about making a statement: 'There's nothing Kareena Kapoor can't do.'

The book retails for around Rs. 461 on Flipkart (here).

PS: I loved the the Tom Ford dress she wore for the book launch. The funky belt reminds me of one of those wrestling championship belts :P. Apparently, the belt weighs 8 Kgs :O

Under The Covers : Lisa Haydon for Marie Claire India Feb 2013

Have you seen Marie Claire's Feb cover featuring Lisa Haydon??

Not being a snob and all but did she get that outfit from Myntra??? (The top is actually ASOS and the pants by AM:PM) I just don't think this is cover material. I also have a problem with the pose. The whole thing is just not doing it for me :(
Remember the Anushka Sharma December cover? I wish they'd recreate that magic.

Anyhoo, here's the behind the scenes video of Lisa jumping around :

And more pictures of the cover story

Now this androgynous look I love! Red and fuchsia is one of my favorite colour combinations.

Love the Silver bag ONLY!

The fabric bow on this bag looks like an easy DIY. I'm going to try it this weekend!
