Floating Studs Necklace Tutorial

For those of you who don't know me, I'm OBSESSED with studs! I stick them on my belts, laptop sleeve, shoes, accessories, pretty much anything. Here's a real easy and FIERCE necklace you can make for instaglamming any outfit!

Here's the step-by-step tutorial

Things you need :

  • 1 plastic sheet (ask for an OHP sheet)
  • 1 printer paper
  • Stick-on studs
  • 20-30 cms thin chain
  • Jump rings
  • Clasp
  • Permanent glue
  • Marker
  • CelloTape

STEP 1:

Cut out your desired shape on the printer paper and stick it with tape on the OHP sheet. I used this shape because its easy to cut out from the corner of the paper and looks great with V-Neck tops!
Now cut along the paper stencil and then remove the paper entirely.

STEP 2 :

Arrange the studs in any pattern you like. Remember to leave some empty space in between so that when you wear it, the studs look like they are floating around your neck.
Now stick the studs on the plastic. I used Fabrica glue because of it's easy applicator. You can use any permanent glue - feviquick, UHU, etc.
Leave it over-night to dry.

STEP 3 :

Make two holes on the top with a needle or anything sharp. Insert the jump rings through the holes.

STEP 4 :

Now insert the chain through the jump rings. Size the chain according to your neck and where you want the necklace. It looks best on bare skin so try and make the chain short. I've used a 10 cm chain on either side. Use jump rings on the other side of the chain as well and attach a clasp on one of them.

And there you have it!
A statement necklace the defies gravity.

PS: I get all my supplies from Something Special on Hill Road, Bandra. All the things needed in this tutorial are quite easily available at any stationery store.
